Speculoos
Around My French Table
Speculoos are a traditional Belgian Christmas cookie, though I suspect most Americans wouldn't know that. (Or maybe I'm in the minority.) Most Americans may, however, recognize Biscoff cookies as a standard airplane snack. Biscoff is just a company's branded name for their speculoos cookies, so if you've had those you know what to expect here.
If you want to make cut out cookies but don't want sugar cookies or a full gingerbread experience, these could be a good alternative. Try them out!
While my book was a later edition, the original print missed an ingredient in this recipe. The author has the corrected recipe on her website, here: https://doriegreenspan.com/old_site/around-my-french-table-is-here-enfin-heads-up-theres-an-erratum-correctcorrected-recipe-below/
