Lyonnaise Garlic and Herb Cheese Spread

Around here, we love cheese just about any way you can serve it. I'm a fan of boursin, so I was excited to try this recipe from Around My French Table.
I didn't end up loving it as much as I expected, though. Part of that might have been because I had to use ricotta, and the whole thing was a bit looser than I would like, and also a bit too sweet. I may have been able to counteract the sweetness with more salt and the texture with more draining, but I think I'd have to try it with fromage blanc to really see what it should be like.
I did find a few other reviews of this specific recipe online after we'd tried it, and found some others were also a bit disappointed. I do think I would do a couple of other things differently the next time as well, though, like skipping the tarragon and maybe going for basil instead.
