Simple Black Beans

Milk Street Fast and Slow

My husband, who once travelled to Costa Rica (well before I met him), told me that I needed to make these black beans once a week so he could eat them with eggs for breakfast. I'll take that as a compliment.

This was my first time using my Instant Pot as a slow cooker! I have used a regular slow cooker before, but there is definitely a benefit to using the Instant Pot. For one, if you need to brown your meat or boil your stew, you can do it easily right in the pot. I'm all for having fewer dishes to clean.

Like the Simple White Beans we made previously (https://cookwithheather.com/Milk-Street-Fast-and-Slow-Simple-White-Beans/), this recipe is the jumping off point of several others in the book. I can't wait to try them all! Black beans are our favorite.
