Roasted Sweet Potatoes in their Jackets

This is a good base recipe for some things we'll be doing in the future -- I like to roast sweet potatoes instead of boiling them anywhere I really don't want extra water added to the recipe, like for our usual holiday sweet potato casserole. Stay tuned to see what we do with them!
Of course you can just eat them like they are as well, split them open and top with some butter, cinnamon, and maybe a little brown sugar, and they'd be a delicious side all on their own.

[00:15]: this very short simple recipe that's
[00:18]: also used in that recipe so I was a
[00:21]: little chance to show you how she says
[00:23]: to do this which is roasted sweet
[00:27]: potatoes in their jackets and it's very
[00:30]: very simple for the other recipe we're
[00:33]: going to make we needed three medium
[00:38]: sized sweet potatoes about a pound and a
[00:40]: half which is exactly what these are I
[00:43]: didn't have huge ones I was able to do
[00:45]: exactly what she said so we're going to
[00:48]: roast these in a 400-degree oven for
[00:53]: about 45 minutes or until they are done
[00:57]: until they're soft they kind of shrink
[00:60]: in on themselves a little bit they
[01:01]: usually give off some of their juices
[01:03]: and then they're done so oh and by the
[01:09]: way this is in deep run routes by Vivian
[01:12]: Howard and so really she says just roast
[01:17]: them for about 45 minutes take a look
[01:19]: and then they're done so I have my oven
[01:22]: preheated to 400 degrees I have already
[01:25]: scrubbed these you do want to put
[01:28]: something on your sheet pan before you
[01:31]: put it in the oven she suggests either a
[01:33]: paper bag or aluminum foil I usually use
[01:36]: aluminum foil just because I have that
[01:39]: and I don't generally keep paper bags
[01:40]: around so these are going in the oven
[01:43]: and I'll show you what they look like
[01:44]: when they're done
[01:50]: so my sweet potatoes have been in the
[01:53]: oven for about an hour I checked them
[01:56]: with a fork so you can check them by
[01:58]: seeing if a fork goes through and you
[02:01]: can see now that I've taken them out of
[02:03]: the oven and the fork goes through
[02:05]: they're a little bit separated from the
[02:07]: skins and that means they're done now
[02:12]: several recipes in the book couple other
[02:17]: recipes of the book require sort of
[02:19]: roasted sweet potatoes so you can serve
[02:23]: these as is just it's just a baked sweet
[02:26]: potato at butter brown sugar cinnamon
[02:28]: whatever you want to it or you can come
[02:33]: back next week oh actually probably
